I tend to attack from either NW or NE side with barbs cc on a similar base as this. If u have l16 canons, u could attack from S with 3 camps of barbs and 2 camps of cc

Lots to choose from. I don't think any are truly "anti-2 star" no matter what they say.
as with the Main Base, you can defend well against one type of attack, but there are other types of attacks that will 2 star you.

For BH7, I would focus on the Giant Cannon, and then Roaster.
At BH8, I guess I would also max the Giant Cannon, but might save it for the Mega Tesla. that seems powerful as it gets higher, and attacks air too.

At what builder hall level? I've got level 15 Night Witches on my mini-BH8 and it is not easy to 2 star every base, let me tell you.
having the roaster in the center, and a multi-mortar that is also shielded helps greatly.

I've tried level 14 Minions + 15 witches, as well as 14 giants / 15 witches. Both are no guarantee for a 2 star. It seems that most bases can EITHER be anti-air or anti-ground, but hard to be both

the builder base is not the main village. if everyone played the main base as the builder village, everyone would be a rushed th11. loot on the builder base depends on trophies, and those depend on attack and defense, i.e. higher builder hall. there aren't wars in the builder base, and even if there were wars, they would have to be no dip to be "fair". so just rush. or stay in low leagues and take forever to max your bh

Question. On my second account, I have a BH5 that I’m maxing (just because...my main is BH8). I’m almost finished with walls. What should first troop upgrade be at BH6? I’ve been using 2 giants, 1 bomber, 1 cart comp and have been loving it. Also, all troops are maxed for BH5 already.

It's up to you and what strategy you use the most at BH5/6. If you're willing to use the same strategy then you've to prioritize your upgrades according to that.
I'd suggest you to go for giants - carts - bombers

I'm hitting lots of BH6s, so roasters and air bombs pretty much negate minions. And babies still work relatively well, but it's too easy.
I can do babies in my sleep. Using carts requires SOME thought, and it will also help to know the troops for when I finally get to higher levels

Well metaminion is just as strategic. Carts for sure more but not at that level. You can easily negate lvl 6 roaster and air bombs with proper baby tanking and minion range

Same question with me as well.I was losing when my "Giant Cannon" was upgrading.I said to myself "that's fine",I am losing because of that 1 upgrade but I will show my opponents when my upgrade is done.
After upgrade is completed I win around 9-10 batttles in a row.LIke I get +200 trophies.
And then again started losing continuously -200.Getting 3 starred my max witches,giants.
Conclusion-Upgrading defenses will not make us to win.

to everyone asking if you should rush after a certain thing: Pour all your time into saving up gold to rush to builder hall 8

start focusing on defense levels when you are builder hall 8
From a resource standpoint, going to builder hall 8 gives you potential to upgrade your collectors so you get more loot each day
in addition, you can build new buildings and defenses so it is harder for your opponent to get a higher percentage cuz the more buildings you have, then each building grants less % destruction
this allows you to go to higher trophy leagues giving u more loot
the max level of defenses correspond to your current builder hall level (so max level for giant cannon at bh7 is level 7, max level for archer tower at bh5 is level 5, etc) @rough zealot

The key to builder hall pushing is being the highest builder hall player. If you're looking forward for pushing rush to bh8. ( Upgrade your offence) basically the troops you use, I suggest Barbarian, Bombers and Canon Cart.

it is nice that if everyone played the main village as they must play the builder hall, everyone would be a trophy pushing rushed th11, and the clouds issue wouldn't be as bad as it is now
so SC has found the solution to the clouds problem, it is us sturdy players that do not want to rush. it is also a fix to the matchmaking/engineering problem. if everyone is a rushed th11, wars become automagically balanced

Ex. Personally I have two accounts and they are using same base layout, and same level troops, but they are 500 cups apart due to defense levels

That's the whole point of BH - rush. You rush to get the offense, then work on defenses.

once you hit bh6 drop all the required buildings and upgrade the storages and gold mines/elixir pump to max and upgrade bh7 ... repeat until you hit bh8
no point in staying at lower bh really; at bh8 max gold mine and pumps gives you 252,000 gold/elixir a day so even if you don't play you still get something
