I need some serious help😭 I'm trying to do Non Metallic Metal, but I cant seem to wrap my mind around it. These are the finished pieces ive done, but they dont look metallic in the slightest, let alone realistic. I dont have an airbrush, and would like to stick with a brush if possible. Specifically looking for help with Non Metallic Metal Blue and Non Metallic Metal Gold. Any help is appreciated, but honestly, if anybody experienced could record a step by step of painting a piece with these colors, thatd be fantastic. I know its a lot, but it doesn't have to be anything crazy. Im gonna see if I could get a local "tutor" to help in person, (visual learner) so I could follow along. But please, any tips or tricks or even formulas, anything helps. Thank you!!

Okay guy. This might be helpful, or maybe not.

Let’s start with the guy. This model is a nightmare. Selling NMM is more or less all ‘am I painting light right’. When you’re early on, a model with that much trim and angles is a disaster. Avoid at all cost until you’re a bit more comfortable.

First piece tho, that’s much like like it. You can approach this a few ways but the main thing is how am I selling light. Big flat areas like that are real hard to do also, you can keep the ‘top down’ gradient if you like, it’s fine.. but always looks kinda weird to me. Light being exactly above the pokey bits?

You’re way too liberal with your contrast imo. Going from dark brown all the way to white. Try to bridge the colors a bit more. Reduce the top highlight and raise the shadow reflection.

I did a really poor iPhone sketch, maybe it’s helpful for inspiration.
