I'm playing with making some lava bases for my purple and green Fyreslayer dwarves. I'd like some feedback on the color and improving the bases, because it's only like 50-60% of what I was hoping for and I can't quite tell what to try next. I've played with different colors, including the flourescent green I used on the dwarves' beards and hair, and settled on this lime greeny color
- Is there too much lava on the base to the point of distraction?
- Do I need to go darker on the edges of the lava, or pick a different color? On a typical lava base people go red in the edges, then orange to yellow to white in the centers. Here I am going through green, greenish yellow, and then to white.
- Is the lava color not matching the dwarves mohawks and beards an issue? (The flourescent green doesn't come out well on this particular dwarf, it looks more like the flame coming out of his gun on the rest of them.)
- How is the shape of the lava?
- Do I need to look into more advanced techniques like OSL? Since I have to do like 60 of these guys by the end if I want a 2000 point army, I don't want to go super hard on the bases, I'm happy if they look good enough.
Thank you!
