Hi everyone! I'm new to the server, so please excuse any improper manners. I'm painting all the miniatures in Gloomhaven, and I've come now to THIS guy, the so-called Prime Demon. Now, I'm completely stumped on how I might go about getting the sort of "aura" feel of the fire around the dark body. I've considered doing the body dark and then like... edge highlighting and drybrushing on the fire colours? But that feels like it would just look really lame. Any suggestions? Thank you~!
#How to get the feel of an "aura" on something?

Maybe use a Backdrop.
There are parts like the tail you can paint white then paint a fire effect to make it looks like it glows, but an external aura probably needs something external
Do y'all think I should, in this case, paint the whole thing like fire? Or should I like... paint it like the darker body colour and then use a transparent glaze or something in the fire colours over it?
You’re trying to replicate something you can’t paint, which is quite tricky. I think, and this is subjective, give up on that idea and instead take the ‘burning light’ part and focus on that. You can paint that. Like he’s burning from the inside and it’s finding its way out.
