#Do I have enough grey and white on here for my first SlapChop Speedpaint?

More middle grey and highlights will improve saturation of the speed paint
Okay thanks. It just feels weird to prime it black and then just cover it up. But I don't know painting , first time
You can heavier with your white.
Okay I did heavier
But my pink for butt and face wasn't as light as I'd hoped for a bit of contrast from the purple body. How can I lighten it up quick? Using speedpaints, can I just add some medium brushed over?
do you have a suitable color normal paint? light/bright pink drybrush over the area to increase the range of tones. or maybe a little speed paint mixed with white and try to dry brush that.
Familiar Pink (that's what I used without medium) is all I have for bright pink. I could try another small layer of the pink mixed with medium on top, or would that darkened it since it's a second layer of Speedpaint anyway
looking good so far, lots of variation in tones
Just did the teeth bony matter
But yeah, do you think the pink diluted with medium and brushed over lightly would lighten or darken it more ?
adding layers of contrast over contrast will get darker
mixing with medium will increase transparency, you want to increase lightness or brightness to boost the highlights
The only white I have right now is acrylic (not Speedpaint) to do the dry brushing. Should I buy some white speedpaint?
no. but try mixing the white with speed paint and test it on the rim of the base
Or maybe just dry brush those areas more white again and paint again?
a worthy technique
Hmmm mkay. Thanks for the help
this makes sense in theory. selectively add back the brightest highlights with pure white, then thin down contrast and go over those areas again.
i think i will be something like this
Not the brightest change but I got a bit more of what I was going for and learned a bit from it
Before then after left to right on each
I'm really stressing on if I did enough on the dwarf now
You did enough, yes
Thanks. I tried painting these years ago and was scared to apply too much white and the dark areas were way to dark for the speedpaint I tried. I'm hoping this will help and then if I need some darker areas just do a second coat
Yeah when you're doing a "slap chop" style you can err on the side of too much white for exactly the reason you say
The contrast paint/ink/whatever will naturally darken, and if it's too bright you can always add more
But you can't as easily go the other direction if it's not bright enough
