#In the “I hate it phase” - looking for blunt feedback

I love the horse's legs, the steel armor, the detail on the chest armor, the red leather bag and the quiver.
If it were me, I would not put the yellow details on the bag and quiver because I think they add too many colors and with the brightness there, they might take away from the rider.
Overall it looks like it's going to be beautiful!
Thanks Moghul, I agree the yellow - was trying to go for gold nmm - is just way too bright
I think it would be fine as steel
Maybe the horn on the head can be gold, maybe some buckles. But maybe less bright, like how you did this chest design
Oooh yeah I like that way better
I think you could probably keep the metallic end of the belts/straps gold NMM and have that continuity with the gold nmm on the chest
the hair on the legs is brilliant! ... can you apply the same technique to the mane?
I like how you paint, but the palette here is much too strong imo. You have no harmony in your colors and everything is mighty saturated before even introducing the main focal point, the rider.
Look at what happens as soon as we limited the palette a bit.
The whole thing calms down and becomes easier on the eyes.
Lastly, for the gold you need to reduce the mid tone a lot.
Getting some darker shades in there is what will help sell it as a shiny metal.
Also, since it’s shiny metal, you’d never find a completely dark surface facing that brightly lit ground. Getting those secondary reflections in place helps sell the illusion and creates some visual interest.
Wow, thank you so much, really appreciate you taking the time for the write up and the paint over
This will be my second model with any NMM so I’m definitely still learning and your paint overs are really helpful
Horses face needs some highlights and a few details like kips done
Otherwise very good
Oh nvm looks like you did it
I started from the top
Looks great
The horse is still quite a bit more eye catching than the rider. I think he needs to be a bit brighter, his armor a bit shinier, etc
I think the sword helps in that direction too, being over the horse
The horse horse or the “gold”?
Also small update
This picture is better but I think it's about the same attention grabbing level.
I’ll get rid of the gold on the undersides and just leave it on the buckles
Hang on, before you take any more feedback from my dumb ass, see if you can get some peoples' attention on #general-miniatures or #the-mini-gallery.
you're my new teacher moghul sorry
Dude looks dope as fuck
