Hi, can you recommend any non weathering enamel paints?

My Aeldari armors ask for some kind of wash. However, in my experience acrylic washes often ‘create coffee’ stains if you apply them more generously. Moreover they often have a satin/shiny finish. I have been trying with oils for a while, but have the feeling, that oils tend to bleed a little bit into the underlying acrylics when not varnishing them before (extra step). Further, I find getting the consistency right more difficult than with enamels and ‘proper’ removal is not that easy. So, I have been looking around for color enamels that are not limited to weathering and rust like for example a dark blue (or a regular blue and a black).

Does anyone have experience with AK war gaming washes or has some other recommendations?

Unfortunately, I find the AK washes are already designed for a specific purpose rather than the basic colours. There are for example a two greyish greens, but there is no white to mix your own grey with black

Acrylics are going to be the easiest to apply - just go back over them with your base coat to cover up any unwanted staining.

Also apply them more deliberately to reduce pooling in places you don’t want them.

Lastly, knock down the satin with some matte varnish at the end of the painting process.

I personally like enamels, but like I said I used them mostly for a grimdark style with toned down colours or weathering. I am of course aware that you can achieve absolut fantastic results with acrylics, but you have to put much more effort in it than with enamels. That’s why I was asking specifically for enamels

I think you’re overestimating the effort of varnishing at the end haha.

But yeah you do you - Tamiya has tonnes of Enamels I’m sure you can thin one down to a wash-like consistency.

I tried the AK enamel washes and went back to using thined oils ...

I thin the AK enamels all the time. And oils. It's all pretty much the same thing, it's just easier to get a specific color for an oil paint you thin than a specific enamel wash color.
