#How do I properly use Vallejo Xpress ?
10 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
They're still Acrylics, they're just the Vallejo version of GW's Contrast Paints, and Army Painter's Speedpaints.
Zenithal highlight, apply Xpress, boom relatively good looking tabletop paint job.
- No, but you can.
- You don't, they're designed that way.
If you want more information there are about a thousand historical conversations on how to apply Contrast-type paints all through this discord.
Okay , got it , thank you ❤️
Bit of a dumb question but ... I can still do pretty minis for dioramas while using xpress , yes ? Given I get enough skill ;d ,?
Also - do I need to wet my brush to work with xpress?
Xpress/Contrast/Speedpaint are designed to give you quick results.
You can use them like Inks to filter colours underneath them, but you are not going to get the same level of control in layering/shading/highlighting than a regular acrylic provides. You can of course incorporate them into your workflow, but they are not going to provide you with the tools necessary to create the best possible display piece.
Certainly they put paint on miniatures, and have their applications, but they don't help develop painting skills.
Yes you should almost always be using a damp brush.
Okay got you,
Thank you for very insightful answers!
I hope I can improve though, I will be using both as I have a set of Game Color and xpress , but so far I have really enjoyed xpress more 😄 The skin felt nice to paint with it for sure
is there maybe a guide or something on how to properly use xpress / contrast /speedpaint ?
Yes there are many - try the manufacturer’s websites first
