Anyone used a polymer clay before? I’m unsure if i should be moulding it onto the plinth, then baking (including the plinth!) or somehow moulding, removing, then baking

depends on the plinth material

#

something like sculpy needs to be heated to 130C to cure. most injection molded plastics, will warp at that temperature

#

wood is probably worth experimenting with. but i wouldn't put any painted wood in the same oven i cook food with

#

a safe choice would be to model on something like metal, bake, and the remove it and super glue to the plinth

I'm sometimes using FIMO and always bake what I have before gluing on the base.

Thanks all. I think baking on metal will be best

#

Does fimo have any flexibility after baking, like greenstuff?

It's still a bit flexible, yes.

Oh, and I bake on ... baking paper. Somehow I have a huge quantity of it and I'm not using that much for painting

It depends, there are different formulas, some are more brittle and some are more bendy

#

Ive always used sculpey premo and it works p good

#

You can put the clay on something wood and it will bake right on there no problem, i dont think plastic is a good idea in the oven tho

Just baked it yesterday and it’s about as much flex as fully cured greenstuff it seems
