Hi so I recently started painting again with intent after a break of multiple months.
After the obligatory Speedpaint-Kill team I decided to go for broke and paint my first 75mm thing

Current status of the face. Going to tackle the hands because I'm starting to get cross eyed staring at the face.
Nice! Cool looking figure too
Thank you! It coincidentally matches perfectly to a god in my homebrew P&P, so that's an added incentive
I tried glazing for the first time to see if I can add some redness to his nose and hands
While i'm aware that it could definitely be pushed further, I'm calling the skin quits for now as I'm honestly quite happy.
Current status. I'm wondering if the front belt thing looks like black leather. Happy for the moment
Looks like a very worn black leather to me. Might benefit from a bit more sheen where the black is less worn down but that's nit picking
Thanks! I'm actually going for a very worn look on the leather, so that fits. Thanks!
Now all that's left is the base and the metals. I decided to try NMM for the first time. gotta go for it at some time...
Christ on a cracker, NMM is hard lol. I think the copper turned out okay, the sword is acceptable I think, but the kneeguards don't look quite right
Still, for a first time I think passable
It's done, christ that took forever. the NMM still ain't perfect but I think I'll leave it at that
Are you looking for feedback?
Nice job! Looks like a fun figure
Always, sure 🙂
It was quite fun!
Although I learned that maybe 75mm figures should be painted in sub-assemblies... I glued it all together right away and that was kind of a pain at times, especially with the scarf
I think there are a lot of really great parts to this - particularly the main character's skin and the variety of green tones you've used. I'm nitpicking here so take it with a grain of salt! I do think that the horns look a bit forgotten in that they're all roughly the same colour and there's a bit of overlap with the skin on the model's left horn and its forehead. Also the severed heads skin seems similarly monotone. Lastly it's hard to tell if you've done some blacklining - might be worth reinforcing those micro-shadows where different materials meet to make it pop even more.
Thank you for the positive framing and detailed Feedback 🙂 Appreciated.
You're right, I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but the antlers look too flat compared to the rest. I'll work on them some more
God dammit, I didn't even realise there was overlap, I didn't see it in person.
Yeah, the dead head looks a bit too much like wood, now that you mention it
I'm afraid of making it look too alive, you know? Colour Choice for that is still super hard, never painted dead/undead flesh before
Even if you want to maintain it as a darker skinned individual, I think it would benefit from a loss of colour - so leaning toward a greyish / paler version of that colour you have there already would work.
And no problem at all re the feedback! ✌️
Redid the antlers. I'll do something else for a bit before taking the severed head again
Nice! I think they fit the scene better now - how do you feel about them?
Good lord it's been ages - I've since taken to age of sigmar
First time trying OSL, decided to go for a glow-y base thing.
Nice work! He looks great. Really like the work on his skin. And his arm texture. Dig the sculpt too. Cool find.
Thanks! It's one of the Minis from the Miniac Kickstarter. Overall not the best KS I've ever backed, but that Mini came out fine.
