#Mold risk to miniatures

Recent high-humidity conditions has caused some mold/mildew growth in my basement, which also happens to be where my miniature painting studio is located. I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced mold growth on their miniatures. Currently I don't observe any growth, but most of my WIP minis sit in open air on my desk surface. Any thoughts?

If it's damp, dark, and cold, mold will grow on it. Get a dehumidifier at least, and/or get a case.

Yeah we've already got a replacement dehumidifier on the way.

in a pinch, you can also get humidor stones and just put them in the same case as the minis

it helps, but it's better to have a de-humidified environment

air ventilation is what helps with these under the climate I live in. I don't know if yours is particularly humid though?

There was some water brought in from outside, which, combined with this seasonal high humidity, meant that any moisture in the basement just never left.

You can try running the AC when you aren't in the home. It is not as effective as a dehumidifier, but it might help enough.
