Hey guys, long story short, I finally have my first actual day off tomorrow and wanted to paint a mini that ive wanted to paint for awhile with my new airbrush. only issue is, once again watching a tutorial video on how to use an airbrush and what to do, I missed the part of an "airbrush cleaner" solution. ive read online that windex is both the best thing to use and that if i use it the gods of mini painting will strip my flesh from my back and throw me into the pits of mini painting hell (Detroit). anyone have other suggestions? my local hobby store is closed on sundays.

I use windscreen cleaner diluted 1:2 with water as I can't get Windex (not US).
But many people here are using Windex, either pure or 1:1 with water.

The gods will strip the flesh from your bones though. Doesn't mean don't do it, just FYI.

I think the concerns come from the small quantity of ammonia in Windex and that airbrush are mostly made from brass.
While ammonia will cause some issue with brass, that will happen very slowly (talking about years) and only if the brass is exposed, so meaning if the nickel, or chrome for the more luxurious airbrushes, is somehow damaged.

For a deep clean, i use isopropyl on everything except the point of the nozzle that has a litttle rubber thing because lt will get damaged. For cleaning after every use, i spray a bit of normal rubbing alcohol after spraying water. I haven't had an "after use" clog in months

Honestly, if you have a bottle of airbrush thinner, you can just use that until you get your hands on a bottle of airbrush cleaner. It's not the end of the world.
