#should i spray varnish after painting?

Most modern mini paint is quite strong after curing. I feel you don't necessarily need a varnish these days.
There are still many good reasons to varnish though. Maybe your paints are too glossy or too matt for what you prefer, or maybe you want to unify the finish as different brands have different finishes.
That being said, varnish isn't magic, you can still damage the paint job by overly touching the painted mini or dropping it, etc.
If you feel you want to varnish, I'd go for a satin or matt one. Satin is more forgiving and allows you to retain vibrancy. I use satin for fantasy models.
Matt varnish is really good at revealing your mistakes, it's why I use matt paints as much as possible. I use matt varnish for sci fi or realistic models.
That's how I make that decision. If you do varnish with a rattle can, make sure to watch some tutorials on how to avoid frosting. Worth considering depending on where you live
