I'm going to paint Nyx (from Middara: Unintentional Malum).

There are other Middara figures that may deserve the term demon, but none of them has the classical horns+tail+wings look. Maybe Shayliss, she has horns at least. Well, let's see when July comes.

If you ship minis. The best thing. Is like pack as much packaging protection in there as possible. ( I tend to wrap stuff in a cloth / paper towel first. And then go ham with packing peanuts or equivalent available. Essentially when you close the box do a quick gentle " test " shake and nothing should move inside .

If you ship minis with long awkward blades in the minis hands / etc. Make sure you put something in between the pieces so they don't get knocked around and break in shipping

I've shipped minis across the pond now and it went well with the " nothing moves in this box method"

I also suggest if things come unassembled ship them.that way it's often easier

It looks possessed enough - I don't think horns would really make it look more posessed. What I would like to see would be something like an animal snout starting to push out from under the helmet.

Cool conversion. Or scratchbuild for that matter as it seems a completely amalgamation of various parts instead of a clear base figure added on. Looks great and fun to know there is no other like it, very unique.

I have ADHD so when presented with a task I do it rather quickly as soon as I get it, and paint challenges are presented a month prior to start. I finished painting them weeks ago and will probably paint more once I come back around to it. I just need more models 😂

So the competitions are motivational, but probably too motivational due to the extreme notice.

And to be fair I actually painted 40 more. I just didn't take photos of them prior to start 😂

I think you’re misunderstanding the Paint Alongs - the work is meant to be done in the time frame presented (ie July & August) - not weeks ago and then submitted for points within the time frame.

I didn't understand the nuances of the points system, if I was awarded points for the paint along I wasn't aware that these things were inclusive. But I don't recall ever receiving points directly for the paint along, or extra points because it was a paint along. If that was the case then clearly, I am in the wrong for my own ignorance on the situation.

Though I don't believe I've benefited from my error.

Reaper kickstarter. Almost all of my backlog are reaper minis at this point

I stopped following Reaper a long time ago as they are hard to get over here and having to order them outside the eu makes them pricewise not worth it with the sending costs and all additional fees compared to other options of brands I can get in the eu. I still have a lot of unpainted metal reaper miniatures from 10+ years ago though.

Are the casts from reaper any good now they are at kickstarter 6? They went plastic after I stopped collecting them. I heard some bad things about it in the past (soft details, bendy plastic, lost details).

the white plastic bones was... not great. The black plastic is decent. I personally still have a preference for metal, but their kickstarters were hard to beat at under $1 a mini

So basically its either metal or bones usa if I ever order a reaper mini again and ignore the rest. The white bones from what I saw online seems more in line with mass produced boardgame miniatures. Not really minis to paint to display quality as that time is better spend on better casts.

the proportions and stuff and they're a little sillier looking and this is more subjevtive but i find them easier to paint too and i think part of it is bc when its an older sillier mini i think the "expectations" are lower!!

that's actually a complaint of mine from the newer minis. It's not that they're sillier but rather that they are simpler models. Looks at minis produced nowadays and things are crammed on there. Humanoid figured have packs, pouches, backpacks, bottles, etc. crammed on there like a roving yard-sale. Old minis were simpler with "pants, shirt, weapon and maybe a cloak"

visually, I find a lot of newer minis to be cluttered
