hey, newbie mini painter. I'm trying to paint this warforged titan and was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get a coppery metal look as opposed to what it is now. currently its just a base coat with Citadel XV-88.

also any general tips/advice for painting is welcome as well :) thank you

Depends on what route you want to take. There are plenty of copper paints on the market. Metallic paints with a type of dust in it that gives the sheen of metal.

Something like this for example

The other approach is to use a technique called Non Metallic Metal. Where you paint something to look like metal although you paint with regular paints.
It’s very difficult though and requires a good understanding of volumetric highlighting.

Depending on where you're located and whats available I've found the best metallics to be the metal color series from vallejo they're extremely thin (as they're made for airbrush the pigments are as finely ground as possible) and leave no appreciable texture behind, they coat in a single application with a brush and most of the colors are fantastic except the gold which is quite green but if mixed with a touch of copper turns a acceptable gold. Many metallic paints will not cover very well or need a thick layer to cover. The pro acryl and scale 75 metallics are also quite good. But metal color stands on its own with anything else being a pretty distant second in my opinion if available it's worth picking up. If you're trying to paint without metallic the technique is called non metallic metal and there are a ton of tutorials for it available but it's quite an advanced technique and really requires understanding how to paint light and reflections. A great technique to learn nonetheless but I wouldn't expect it to look how you want for some time.

In my opinion, the color of your model looks more like Brass than Copper, copper is more orange-brown, with reflections close to what would be a light skin tone. I suggest you put Copper images on Google
