Hi,

I’m brand new to the world of painting miniatures, painting and my knowledge is limited to what I have watched on YouTube and read here.

I am starting my 40k journey with a series of Daemons and have decided I want to go with a “dark star” color scheme, basing this off of league of legends dark star themed skins. I will post pictures for reference. I am not going to delude myself into thinking that these are gonna be AMAZING, but they will be mine and I am gonna try.

So what I need help with it paints to buys. I don’t want to overwhelm myself by literally buying 10-20 different shades of the same color. So I am hoping those that are reading this could help me with what colors I should go buy at my local hobby store. Names would be preferable or at least a number of shades of primary colors?

Hi!
Great you want to try changing things.
This one will be rather tough for even experienced painter especially on an army scale. Good osl make w job here.
I will recommend talking with someone in hobby store, borrow few paints and paint one model.
You will need dark blue, magenta, pink, purple, black and white at minimum.
Additionally I will try to find painted figures and try to copy them rather than copy artworks. Two different things.

A lava or molten painting tutorial could probably be adapted to this. Just sub the reds and oranges for your pinks and purples. It'll take some trial and error test models.
