So my friends wanted to start a DND campaign, and I found a mini that is a DND character. But I don't want it to be like the regular messy boardgame paint job. I actually want to paint it well. but I'm not sure how I'd go about painting it and not having it look flat or anything. I want it to stand out and look like a display model. Because when I'm not using it, it would mostly be for display

This is the DND character

Hey! Are you asking for technique or style or color pallet?

Techniques

#

I'm not too sure how to do the shading. I usually do a lot of fabric. So I don't really know how to do feathers or fur

#

It's mostly composed of greys, Whites, and blacks. So colour pallet isn't hard to figure out

#

I was going to use speed paints. So I can do slap chop

I think if you go dark and then dry brush several layers it’ll look more textured and you can build up the highlights.

#

Then you can edge highlight the ears, nose, paws, and large wings so they have some sheen

So dry brush everything, then finish with edge highlights?

#

Ooh. Paint it regularly, then go over everything for the highlights, then do edge highlights

#

Ok

#

But paint it dark

That’s right—paint it dark, then dry brush multiple layers so it looks textured
