Hi Clefty! Here are things I would consider (please bear in mind I don't know what more constraints there are on these guys):
- The overall color scheme is very uniform (the brown from the leathers is close to the metallics in tone). I worry if this will be readable enough?
- the blue wash feels weird to me. On the cable and torso maybe it is expressing that there is light? If so then it works on the torso but I would need more blue on the "slices" (close to the light) to be more believable?
- the knee cap & belt buckle spheres are an opportunity to pick another detail up in red (or blue)?
- I would pick the edges of the plume with the flat of the brush with a lighter color to help them pop.
PS: Sorry if I'm repeating myself, I can't remember if I wrote these. 😅
I was aiming for a verdigris effect with the turquoise
I thought about doing straight up red leather boots, but opted for a reddish brown. Should the leather be a brighter color?
I like a darker color for the boots rather than brighter. (Helps leave the focus on the upper body). But a redder leather would work, totally your preference for your mini!
I think (not a 100% rule, and I'm no specialist) the verfigris would create where humidity would naturally gather, i.e. where water would stay if the guy stood briefly in the rain?
well I could indeed be wrong 🤣
I withdraw my comment on the verdigris - I'm not sure what logic to apply, other than "it should be variedin its coloration" (or thickness / number of layers?)
The effect needs work
I was imaging verdigris streaks
Kind kf like this
I guess that isn't a streak
But this tone and streaking
More.like this
@sharp osprey I did a light highlight of the top-knot and tried a gem effect on the round sections.
And darkened the boots
Lovely! 👍
The value between the shadow, mid tone and highlight are closer than the first attempt I think?
