#Trouble finding colors for a Flygon mini.

I am doing something special for my friend group and I am going to paint up a bunch of miniatures of their favorite pokemon. I am planning to use contrast paints if possible but I am having a difficult time finding the right colors. Attached is my reference photo. I think I should be able to take that darker green on the head crest and thin it down to get a lighter color.

Thoughts?

Contrast paints aren’t going to work great for this. You’re going to get pooling and weird shadows and highlights. I would grab 4 opaque citadel paints; 2 greens and two pink-reds.

#

I would mix the red and the purple to get something in between

#

Get some white too to desaturate the green for the highlights

#

Other brands (Vallejo, army painter, proacryl, artist brands) will have the same (or even more!) colors but you can get close enough with a lil mixing

It is using the kaijumon model. It has a lot of texture so contrast paints would be perfect.

#

That is what the model looks like

The contrast paints will give you shadows in the recesses but it won't look like the image you posted

#

is that okay?

As long as it is closeish

As long as it still reads as flygon

Did you check fanatic colors, vallejo game color express, etc?

I did. They have the darker green i need but not a lighter one. I think I might just have to thin a lighter green down.

Based on my personal experience, I think Scorpy green (VGC), livery green (VGC) and scarlet red (VGC) come close
