Accidentally brushed on too much varnish

Hey, so I made a stupid mistake and brushed way too much Vallejo satin varnish on one of my minis. I usually water it down a bit and get great results but this time I guess I trusted it too much. Any easy solution?

So far all I can think up is attacking the spots with alcohol and a cotton swab.

Bit of IPA on a brush and you might be able to reduce it a bit, but you'll inherently run the risk of removing paint as well, I'm afraid.
