Hey !

I tried doing a different version of my genestealer for their hands and head.

One is a slapchop version with highlights using a light drybrush over dark primer for the head v
The other is a standard painting (from darker to lighter color).

The drybrush mini is without spikes around their mouth.

Which version do you prefer ? Do you think it shows ? I prefer the smoother hands of the non drybrush but like the harsh look of the slapchop. Feels like old comic. Looking for second opinions thanks !

I am weighting time vs look..

No noticeable difference, so go with whatever took less time. People would not be able to notice any difference on the tabletop

The thing I noticed the most about the layer painted one is that the blue on the carapace is brighter and the face looks a little neater.

But. If you gotta do a BUNCH of these, slapchop it and noone will notice when they are photod in a group

@olive flicker yes I tried also different highlights on the shell πŸ™‚ to pop the eye out of the user of the tabletop game. Thanks for noticing the neater layering, I am trying to progress in this area πŸ™‚ I will try drybrush with a purple to give shadow but give a neater cleaner look. Will let you know.

The latest version looks dope, and in my opinion, its because you drove the contrast between the elements. I agree, I think youve found it.

I need to work better on the eye though but yeah thanks πŸ™‚

The difference between eye with fluo and white is not visible enough but still working
