I have some recesses I want to easily fill with white oil paint to start the glow process. I was thinking titanium white because that's what I hear works best but my lical hobby stores are out of it. Is flake white a suitable substitute for it?

No art supply stores?
You're more likely to find oil paints there than in a hobby store.

I went to a general arts & crafts store. Managed to get a tube of titanium white up as I literally saw them fill the shelves.

The question still remains though. How much impact do different whites have on our scale?

It's usually an opacity thing, or a tinting thing when mixed, sometimes a grainy pigment thing when mixed with my mineral spirits in the case of the black pigments.

Idk about flake white hue, not sure what the pigment is for that and if it has any quirks. Titanium white is the go to for an opaque white and Zinc white is a very low opacity white.

flake white hue is the substitute for the now defunct flake white, which was lead based. ive honestly not seen the hue version in the shop or read much about it to know its properties.

If it's real flake white, that means it's lead based. Avoid it at all cost.

If it's called flake white hue or flake white replacement/alternative, that's fine. Usually it's titanium white based, optionally mixed with other white pigments.
