Wish me luck with getting the Anjanath's skin tone right on these hunters...
They got a zenital highlight primer and a quick magenta primer.

Put some Liquitex black ink over everything that will be metallic because it is glossy so I can take photos of the reflections. Thanks for teaching that trick in your live session, @fierce ruin!

\edit I discovered that those hunters have Rathalos armor, not Anjanath, so I removed the title shot when I started over (it can not be changed later 😦 )... I put both shots down in the comments.

My pleasure and best of luck!

Thank you! Won't be able to do much but I'll try my best - they are so tiny!

Some of the reflection references.

perfect!

I was wondering where the light should come from, but then I just turned them in a way that looks coolest on the respective weapon/shield. We are not after realism after all 😄

Some small progress... Somehow, they fail the squinting test though. I struggle to get the paint where I want, it is all so tiny.

Super cool, where did you get the Ajanath sculpt

It's from the Monster Hunter board game 🙂

The hunters are from the same box and these four wear Anja armor.

I didn’t realize that was a thing!

It was a kickstarter project that delivered recently.

NARF! So I was wondering why the armor is so spikey and which color on the Anjanath that resembles in the armor... uh. I have to start over. These hunters wear Rathalos gear.

This time, the primer is Vallejo flat red (I kept the weapon highlights using silly putty)

flesh wash on the red parts.
And more black base coat where there's supposed to be more metal on the armor... plus a few quick sketches on those.

Unsure how to proceed with the sketches, I started somehow, then pushed black and white around for a while...
I fear that for the sword it will not get better than this. The shield needs another round of white when it is completely dry...

All metal parts are now done (except for a few touchups I guess), leather parts based, some burnt siena / black ink for the red parts that are in the shadows and to make the scales better visible.
Advice for the cat's fur is welcome...
