I am at my 25th mini and thought this could be a good time for collecting some feedback from this amazing community.

These are my last two minis, 35mm 3d printed, primed black with white downward drybrush, mostly painted with size 0 and 1 brushes, gw and vallejo colors. I've spent around 7-8 hours per mini.

I've only learned from youtube so far, so I'm mostly looking for bad habits to correct and low-hanging fruits to achieve better results.

I'll be grateful for any feedback you wish to share!

I like both:) my suggestion is to try some washes ect places like axe wood and hairs on dwarf will get more texture and depth. Also metallic (which is nice already) will look more interesting. I personally prefer to work with more colours and normal paints with water or medium but Nuln oil from gw will be good for the start.
Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

I really like the human, you did very well with the skin. I would suggest to not be afraid of darker shadows. You can use either very desaturated hues (mix the previous color with black for ex.); complementary colors, or even straight dark tone/nuln oil wash that you apply carefully on the bottom side of the legs or at the junction between different elements, in downward facing folds... it would increase the overall contrast and give it a more dramatic mood.
Also you could go crazy with the bases, it usually gives a nice framing of the mini and is quite fun to do in my opinion.
In any case, just keep painting (and sharing your work) and you'll continue to improve without even thinking about it...(keep your first minis not too far away as a proof and motivation material)

Thank you both, really appreciate the feedback!

@kindred musk How would you approach washing on the dwarf's hair? More red-ish or more brown-ish wash? Uniform or heavier at the base? Different washes for the orange and red part?
I did try a brown wash but messed up with highlighting, those hairs are not very raised and the overall surface was too irregular.

@green mountain When you suggest applying black wash at the junction between elements you mean blacklining, right? I feel like I overdid it with the dwarf. Was happier with the human but perhaps not enough then.

@leaden mica it depends frow what look you are looking for ๐Ÿ™‚ if you what vibrant red hair I would try some mid browns and red. Then add some more yellow to highlights. Hair are reflective so need more contrast then cloak ect. If you have troubles with edge highlights on mohawk, try drybrush instead ๐Ÿ™‚
End to be clear. Washes aren't necessary here, normal brush work will also be good, it's just sometimes easier and cleaner that way ๐Ÿ˜‰
