Hi!
Can anyone give me some advice about painting in the shadows?
I have a 28mm scale miniature and normal environment light from above. Some elements should be in shadow but also have some details and not painting it feels wrong.
At this moment I just added some more subtle and darker highlights but still not sure about it.

Yup, here you go. Bat covers his front of the wings from the light. Also cover some parts of the skull.
Yeah, pretty much you've got it correct
you still want to highlight some areas to pick them out, but you use darker, or different colors to do it, and you get the overall effect of a shadow
for example on this miniature I'm painting, I want him to be really really frontally lit - the idea being, it's sunset, and he's walking towards he sun
