So a buddy gave me a box of left over minis they hadn't painted. These have this interesting translucent affects. I feel like if I just prime them with spray paint it'll all disappear. Anyone handled these before?

So you are correct that if you primed them you'd lose the transparency. I'd suggest a coat of varnish In lieu of the primer. Then for how you wish to paint these. I'd suggest something like inks or paints thinned down to a transparent application so that you can apply it as necessary in the areas you wish.
Thanks man
You could also fo a very light white drybrushing on the edges to help bring the shapes and lines out a bit
and find every mold line :D
will do this.
like I like the idea behind the banshee? model but its so hard to make out the features.
Yeah I can imagine clear resin is awkward to see details I had red transparent resin and it was tricky mofo
Varnish and speedpaints
Update on what I ended up trying. Didn't feel like being speed paints so went with very thin base paints on ghost & Golem
Main the brain? Things still not sure what they are highlight with some dry brush pro acryl magenta.
After blue/faded ultramarine on ghost & Golem
I'd paint the bases opaque for some contrast... but nice looking.
I like that thanks
Still deciding what to do with all my transparent bones...
They are wierd as fuck. I'm not sure I'd buy them for myself.
I like what they are trying to do.
With the exception of a few water bases ones I didn't enjoy the ones I saw on YouTube
They feel like toy story army green guys to me. Rather than the Stained glass like effect I think they want.
Good call on the bases
Made high difference to their low light effect without hurting their high light look
Probably will tool around with the ghost base some more maybe make it into a grass instead of the exctoplasm I was thinking.
