#How to straighten thin plastic?

Maybe it's the heat (Spain), but every time I look at my minis, the staves simply get more and more bent. Maybe they were never straight. What can I do? Just cut them off and glue+paint paperclips? Or is there a trick or product to make them stay stiff? Thanks!

Maybe some sort of varnish?

Varnish can harden painted plastic? 🤔

#

But the issue is also that sometimes it already arrives bent from the box/bag

I know it can provide a protective outer so I'm wondering if that'll help keep it a bit more rigid? Just a guess idk for sure aha

I know with resin you just heat it and bend back it shape, not sure if you can just do the same with the plastic?

If it's getting melty to aHairdryer its probably PVC, in which case yea it's the heat

It's definitely PVC. You won't get that with ABS or HIPS plastics.

They can be bent back with heat like from a hairdryer, but you want to be careful of course. I can't say I've adjusted many after painting.

#

Make sure they aren't in a case getting direct sun or under hot lights. I've heard many stories about serious sag on bigger PVC dragons that were in cases with display lights. 😦

But something helpful: when you get the ones that are warped from the box, it's easy to fix before painting. Just give them a dunk in hot water (like you would make tea), put it in position, then dunk in cold or ice water and it should shock it into place. Repeat if needed.
