Basically, I wanted to know when should you prime in different colors - White, Gray, Black primarily, as well as when you would use zenithal.

Also, are there some more interesting colors that can be good to prime, such as brown or some sort of out there color like pink? Or is it really only useful to prime in the white-black spectrum.

Priming in white may make it easier if you're painting lighter colors over. Black is nice because if you miss a spot, it's not as noticeable as opposed to a bright white spot.

Black in the recesses can help with shadows.

Zenithal is useful to see where the light falls on the mini. You can paint over it with transparent paints or glazes to preserve the highlighting from the zenithal prime.

If you don't go with the "slapchop" style methods, zenithal is still useful to see where highlights would be. Kind of like a light and shadow mapping. On some minis it helps me see all the details better too.

The color of your primer does affect the colors of layers over it. That's beyond my level of knowledge so I'll let someone else chime in on that.

Got shown this, and it just makes the shadows a bit more interesting than just being black for example
