This is looking so goooooood
That's very kind thank you
that looks fucking sick
Thank you! Great Models ☺️
Some more progress. Unhappy with the shoulder still and the highlights in the cape holes I liked the stronger variant from before. But besides that pretty happy
Changed these from yesterday
From here is good I think
that cape fucking pops
and that OSL is slick too, fits into the model and adds flair without stealing all the attention as OSL often does
just a shame the pose/sculpt causes it to not be visible from the front
Thank you ❤️
From slightly above you can see the edges pretty well I think with the back ribs of the helmet it helps at lot ^-^
I can't pinpoint what's wrong with the shoulder. Maybe it's because of the shadow underside from the supposed to be glowing blade which makes it look like it's too dark...
might be the glow creeping too far down the arm
glow looks quite subdued on the shoulder armour itself but it doesn't quite match with how far it creeps down the shoulder cape thing and then down to the weapon
Good input I think I will come back and reduce it somewhat. Is fabric and shouldn't be this bright for sure
Switching to another model for now. Thinking about anime hair like bubblegum pink or a light green like the blade
Polished her yellow plates today. Used the rest of the paint to add some to the next model
Shiny butt done
Polished the Jacket and Pants today, some Metal parts and Hair.
Still missing is the face, equipment, fur, leather.
That’s great you’re doing NMM on an Infinity mini. They’re so small!
I feel obliged to paint them to a high standard for me. The sculpts and casts are great, very inviting to paint
Face maybe done, idk frustrated enough for today at least. Right eye is even harder to reach...
I need to try this approach some time
just sketching everything in and then blending it all out at a later stage
I know it's a fairly common approach but seeing it laid out here like this is pretty magical
Really impressive for such a tiny scale! What did caught my eye looking at the face that the cheeks and the skin on the mouth are looking quite grey/ purple ish .( might be the photo though!) but I’d introduce some red tones back in there. 🙂
Haha I'm a bit afraid it's just wasting time but it's for sure motivating to see progress and it's nice to figure out how to get there. Hopefully I can cut some steps out I feel like I redraw a lot
Thank you! Great input she is indeed somewhat desaturated suddenly. Lips and her cheek is a bit missing. I'm afraid I have to touch it again
Tried to fix the face and the shoulder. Moving on to the next mini I think enough pain endured for a thing noone will see 😆
that's looking good I think
did you tamp down the cloak highlights though or is that the camera doing funky stuff?
everything looks darker actually, prob the camera
Yeah it's the camera I only touched the shoulder. I did some glaze in a midtone at the bottom but not everything
right yeah
I really wonder if it's worth getting a handle on that sometimes
but on the other hand sometimes your camera gives you nice colour suggestions by just fucking your shit up
Strange how different it looks actually. I usually shoot from the same position and aboutish distance but not here. Didn't realize there is a big shade casted.
The butts are fun I think that's why 😆
Polished basically everything including the face. The arm is the last part missing and some small areas... I think... like shoes
I hate painting shoes
Ye shoes are boring AF. Only upside is that you can weather them which is always some fun. But I don't know my basing yet.
Second trooper done. Have to fill in her socks when I have blue on my palette again. And continued with the third trooper which is second to last Mini of this faction before the next game
The hair looks nice although you could always add a bit of light blond highlights maybe but otherwise 10/10
Current hair is just unpainted primer currently 😆. It has a bit shiny finish.
Black is probably a good call though just some highlighting. Or dark blue
I'd love to see some more anime hair tbh
we already have a pink
what about some blue-green gradient hair
also these minis look so fun
definitely going to get some infinity when I run out of plastic
Hmm ye good call. More Anime is more better. I tried a lot of colors digitally first and green on the Brown haired girl but wasn't really working. Thats why I though blue is at least adding some color. I made some new Swatches here.
For me working very well are more blue ones 4 and 10 and surprisingly to me red ones 2, 6 and the golden one 7
What do you think @fickle vortex @stone carbon 👀
2 is probably my favourite right now but I'd give a completely different answer if you asked me in 3 hours' time
5 green, 1 and 6
Votings
1 II
2 III
3 II
4 II
5 II
6 IIII
7 III
10 I
12 II
Winner: 6
Second: 2,7
I'm definitely ok with 6
Idk I don't really see red working in reality. Same vibe I get with the green I tried on shiny butt lady number 2
I think it's just too much color. Need to be something more muted
... would blonde to pink gradient hair be too much to ask for on one of these?
I will say if someone forced me to paint this on a mini I'd probably hate them for 2 weeks
I wanted to give Shiny Butt 2 the 7 blond type color anyways red/pink tips are good ^-^ Mr. Serios will get some dark blue hair I think
Here she is. With 7 color variant and pink tips
And the dude has blue hair now. Fur and browns got some work and forgot some yellow parts
yo that gradient hair is fucking sick
any chance you could like
maybe sculpt a dragon tail on there
No Dragon tail, sorry 😆
Calling the dude done, polished everything I saw. Shoes I think will just finish when I'm basing
😡
unfortunately I'm having trouble being too mad as the minis are looking sick
I hate the fact that you're making me want to drop way too much money on infinity
Gathering tonk stuff and having all the trash clutter in my hobby space really gave me a huge demotivation to paint anything. Now it's cleaned up and painted some more of this sqirmish squad. Sketched some yellows for the flamethrower guy
I will try some flame glow effect like this at the tip I believe. Looks fun and suits the flame thrower https://www.flickr.com/photos/novaopen/53161295617/in/album-72177720310949224/
Calling him done now until basing
Forgot his hands and I see some clean up needs to be done on the right thigh. Otherwise I'm pretty happy. Still looks more rough than I would like though
love seeing these before and afters
need to try this style of painting at some point
I've never sketched to this degree before
How would your process look like? I feel like I rush too much and have to clean up after myself 😄
usually I just develop some part from start to finish and then move onto something else
maybe go back to polish/adjust later but not usually deliberately
but ofc that doesn't give as clear a view of what the finished product is going to look like as yours
Ah interesting I think it's natural for me because of session length. When done I'm cleaning my palette and next time might as well prepare blues instead of the yellows. Works well for me when I'm not sure about which parts to make which color 🤔
If I can trust my scheme or theory I can finish one set or part completely.
Pretty happy where I ended up after one session. Tried to polish along the way inside out as you normally would. I think that helps a lot in saving time.
The cape is pretty boring I think I will do some pattern. Maybe some active camo if I find a neat reference. I like the triangle pattern here https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7e/2c/4e/7e2c4ec5633c930b140cbdc1852648a6.jpg
He also has some strange neck metal skelet thing. Not sure what to do with it yet. Can always go back to chrome but the back side is so monochrome already
Maybe stripes is enough. This was my initial guideline reference
Gone for triangles. Interesting learning experience. I wanted to add some wavy energy pattern on top but it's not working at all. I suspect the cape is too bright so the highlights are lost
Like this approach but no idea how I get there with my colors https://i.pinimg.com/736x/bb/5c/eb/bb5ceb3605c02bde489a804407a18ff2.jpg
that looks completely nuts
what was your approach to colour placements here
it looks great but I can't make heads or tails of it
I wanted to do some kind of energy liny things with the green energy color I established in the power sword mini. I marked the lines I followed.
But it's fightning in value a lot with the cape highlights and destroys the established patterns shading. So is all over the place at the end and not really working as I wanted
I would need to tone down the capes contrast or value some for this to work I think. So that the energy thing is the brightest spot. Also not a lot of areas next to the fabric to make this glow read as a glow.
right now it reads to me as if the entire surface of the cape is covered in digital artifacts
I am currently working on
an invincible army force. Having the same great results with my colors as well.
Noice! I like the sculpts a lot is like they consider painting when posing 😄
They consider everything except how hard it is to learn to play. Lol
I like the fabric texture on this one.
Working on the next one for now with a different kind of cape. Also camo unit though. Her cape is a lot more interesting I think I will just go with plain triangles for both and avoid the green energy thingy. I think I will make his neck thing somewhat glowy.
Her shoulder things are supposed to glow as well but is not really selling the effect yet. Tough to reach as well
These are the last two of the squad actually I just realize. When they are done only thing left is basing and any clean up I see and want to do 🙌
