Because the Averland Sunset spray has been discontinued, and I've failed to find a replacement locally, I've been moving to use Contrast paints for my infantry. However, I continue to feel I could do more with it. After a proper layer of Contrast, what next steps can I take to take it to the next level? A wash? How do I weather it? Surely there's something more I can do. Or should I just buy the bullet and try to find a suitable spray replacement?

So kind of the point of a contrast paint is that you don’t have to wash or highlight since it does that by itself, sort of.

Am aware, but especially for Characters I wanna do more with it

Especially on the highlighting side in my limited experience with contrast paints.

But it’s also very dependent on the actual paints. Some will create very deep shadows and some will not.

And it will also depend a lot on the actual mini

As well as what colour you use under the contrast paint.

Adding to the above, contrast over white/lighter colors will look brighter than over black/darker colors. So you can make your highlights brighter and shadows darker if you value sketch before applying contrast paints.

I hadn't even thought of that yet
