My FLGS recently started carrying ProAcryl paints and I picked up several bottles since I've seen them praised so highly by both folks online and by the painters that hang out at my FLGS.

I tried using them on a few different minis, but I'm really having a hard time getting the hang of these paints. I can't seem to thin them down without ruining the consistency of the paint. It doesn't seem to matter how much or how little water I use to thin them down, they become super transparent and I can't achieve coverage at all.

I've seen a few folks online claim that they just use the paint straight from the bottle, but I've found that undiluted, it's just a little too thick.

I add very little water to mine for base coats or layers. Sometimes just putting them on the wet palette is enough. I have found that some colors don't like being in a very wet coat at all and will try to separate.

And I often am like "damn this seems thick" but it dries fine.

Mostly I've found if I have too much residual water in my brush after rinsing and wiping it off, that's when I have issues. I also use very big belly brushes.

Colors with white benefit a lot from glaze medium if they start chalking up.
