I would like to know which paints to choose for the following two figures.
I'm pretty new and looking for about 10-20 paintings to start with.
I want to make a medium purchase and I was looking to buy some of the AK brand and others of the Vallejo Model color brand, since some are out of stock.

The two figures I want to paint are:
Lucy from cyberpunk and Inosuke from Demond slayer attached images.

At the moment I saw these paintings from an AK set:
AK11018 Neutral Gray
AK11040 Sahara Yellow
AK11044 Yellow
AK11050 Light Flesh
AK11063 Brown Rose
AK11067 Magenta
AK11097 Burnt Red
AK11098 Black Red
AK11103 Medium Rust
AK11111 Burnt Umber
AK11140 Grass Green
AK11180 Imperial Blue

But I think I'm going to need a lot more for those figures and I don't know if I have to remove some of the ones that come in that set.

As long as you’re not afraid of mixing colours, you really don’t need that much.

#

It’s painted using only 3 colours plus black and white.

#

I would recommend getting like black, white, red, blue, yellow, brown and a skin colour.

#

Then if you plan on using a ton of say purple, it’s probably worth buying an actual purple.

Don’t worry about amount of paint, 17ml is a big amount, I have bottles from early 90’s, old Citadel, and remain active at now.😅

#

AK's basic set is very good, Jose DaVinci set, feel is good to me!

Yeah I’ve yet to run out of any paint and I’ve been painting for like 8-9 months now

Make a wet palette or buy some, one or two drops of paint of 2 or 3 colors in close areas and mixes a little of each color and it serves you to paint a lot and try with the colors, and for most techniques you will add water , to dilute the paint, most people use diluting paint in most steps, some brands need to dilute more, others less, AK I notice more diluted than Scale75 and Vallejo, for example!

Yes AK is more beginner friendly than Vallejo because it’s runnier imo.

#

Requires less thinning.

Larger miniatures will consume more paint, of course, I don't know exactly what size these images are, I'm talking more about the usual game miniatures. If your intention is to go for larger models, a good airbrush and compressor will soon be your next goal.

Could be a good idea to not use the airbrush for your first minis. Get to know the brush first.

Dont get too hung up on details and what you think you need

#

Usually less paints equal more cohesion in a given miniature

#

Imo you should start mixing colors immediately, that way you get more used to it

#

You need only a rudimentary knowledge of color theory to get started
