Hi, I'm a beginner painter, started a month ago, and It's my 3rd painted mini.
I am trying to understand volumetric, highlighting different materials,
paint consistency, brush control, blending, etc.

I'm looking for any critique, feedback and advice that will help me improve.
Thank you, I appreciate your help.

@real leaf exceptional result for 3rd mini, nmm is believable and skin is looking nice. In terms of advice i can really suggest invest time in basing also chromatic shadows are neat - for example purple shadows for green skin and purple/greenish shades for pants. also some black lining on weapon, shoes and metal will nicely separate elements.
It is nice and vibrant mini, but in terms of composition you can change texture and volume of different parts to draw attention to belly armour, sword and face for example, in this case his pants will have contrast via texture but wouldn't steal attention from important parts

However, is it really your 3rd mini? because i am doubting it real hard

I'm also thinking I should stop painting and restart to get to this good level at my 3rd mini. 😂 Very nice result!
I'm forced to resort to advanced feedback if you want some suggestions for the next mini.
Composition : how about trying to have the overall light value help bring the viewer's attention to the face?

Smoothness: although this is really, really good for a first mini and I like the min/max colors used on the skin, how about trying to mix your paints further, to use more intermediate tones? Also thinning your paint to start using layering techniques. It would take the final result to a step up.

I don't like it myself but a lot of people seem to like it: how about a glaze of red/magenta on the nose & top of the cheeks & other usually redder areas on the body?

Welcome to the hobby! Really great job! One thing to consider is that human (or any other mammal) skin has a lot of tonal variety. So you could consider working in some other tones in the skin. Maybe blues or reds or purples or pinks or any combination of those. Even if done very subtly, it can help breathe life into the skin. That’s all I got. Really nice mini for 3rd or even 30th 👌

Thank you for your feedback, I will remember about this next time.
@marsh swift it is 3rd one, however, I spent a lot of time watching different guides and blog posts. This mini took me 20+ hours

Do you have a background in art?

if you have no backround in art, and just a few guides got you painting volumes like that you should link them.

Sorry for late response @visual crest @woven wolf

I don't have a background in art but when I was a kid I fell in love with art of Boris Vallejo and Zdzislaw Beksinski.

The videos I used were mosty videos made by Vince Venturella(his hobby cheating videos for beginners), multiple videos made by Zumikito and Squidmar.

But most of the time I spent analysing paint jobs of other painter on: http://www.puttyandpaint.com

A few videos I was able to find about highlighting:
