I’ve got an opportunity to buy a second hand harder & steenbeck Focus airbrush.
It’s the precursor of the evolution (I think).

Does anyone have experience with an older type H&S ab?

I have an Ultra, and I was looking to get a second ab so I can have 1 for priming and varnish, and the other one for layering/detail work.
I can get a cheapie for the primer, or I can get one better that the Ultra and use the ultra for priming.

I’m not sure which role the Focus would fulfill.

Thoughts?

No experience with older H&S, but i find it hard to believe it would be bad. They have a solid reputation and that doesn't happen out of the blue.

If its in good condition, there are still spares available (mostle seals/needles) and you're just looking for something to use for priming I would probably get it if the price was right. Getting something "better" than the ultra and using that for priming I would do i f I felt that the ultra was holding me back. Otherwise getting a better an is just a quality of life thing and not really a necessity.
