I’ve just recently started to be able to do NMM. I got this armored dragon model, and the armor plates are all pretty straightforward except for the shoulder pads, pictured here. I’m having a hard time figuring out where to put the shadows and highlights. It’s a rather large piece - maybe an inch wide. If someone could show me where good spots for highlights/shadows would be, assuming outdoor light from above, I would be extremely grateful.

Well, tried my best to draw a quick sketch.. That's how i would paint it, i also drew some red lines to show the shapes you are working on. Try painting one face at a time and don't think about everyting as the same shape.
