#NMM Highlight placement

I think I want to do NMM steel/silver for the armor/ corset thing. Main question I have though is where to put the highlights for something like that. It’s kind of a cylinder so I imagine some kind of line going diagonally maybe? I’m a novice at NMM and the positioning of stuff on armor like this is always the most intimidating part.

Alternatively, am I reading it wrong as to what it fundamentally is and I should do some sort of leather armor or something like that?

Thanks!

I'm sort of a newbie on the hobby but I'm an artist and I watched some videos with tips for nmm

#

Usually they get the mini with black primer under the light you're painting with and then they take photos of it

#

And where the light is shinning on the black in those photos, is where you put the highlights

#

I suggest watching Vince vinturela's video on nmm

#

I think he paints a skaven from Age of Sigmar

You're right in assuming it's mostly a cylinder, but as it widens it will distort the reflections a bit

Not entirely happy here… any suggestions from anyone on what to do here?

It's all just midtones @glass chasm you need darker darks and light lights

Ok thanks! I’ll try not to be afraid of the contrast 😉

I would reset to black and white and work on your placements first
