Hi,

I've had some success with Stormshield on Infantry but having applied it to my Immolator it looks awful. Despite being watered down the finish is patchy and lumpy, giving it the appearance of an unfinished model coated in thicks globs of paint. Compare and contrast with the second image of a nearby unvarnished region that still looks silky smooth. Is the mini bricked? Can the damage be repaired?

You are applying with a brush?

I don't have much experience correcting that. It does look quite uneven. What I would try is using a lacquer varnish from a rattlecan over top of it. Maybe it can help even it out or reduce the appearance. Something like Tamiya or Mr. Hobby.

Thanks bud, I've been leaning toward the same solution as I do have a Satin rattlecan - I just converted to brush on after bad experiences with frosting! I'll run some test models then hold my breath and pray

the lumpiness will be forever short of sanding it off but the patchy, inconsistent glossiness might be repaired with a totally new coat

Frosting can usually be corrected with another pass of the rattlecan varnish. There are sometimes different reasons for it, such as trapped humidity, matte finish not shaken enough, too heavy of an application, etc.

#

But a pass of lacquer varnish can fix it, as it will "melt" (for lack of a better word) the underlying layer just a tad.

#

Which can help it even out or correct issues

by lacquer varnish, do you mean glossy?

#

no, it's a type of solvent based paint / varnish.

Thank you for the tip 🙂 That's really useful intel

The brands I mentioned, Tamiya or Mr. Hobby, should be good

#

Just be careful and don't go crazy. Use a ventilated area.
