So last time I posted was my very first necron attempt ( it wasn't good) but since then I've been practicing and now I'm looking for feedback on my most recent completion for my models.tl I am looking for more tips on how to do proper mixes, balancing metalics and still looking for glow texture tips.

I'm far from an expert but i think that looks pretty good. As for glow you might want to really push the highlights and look into OSL after that.

When i started i found this image that helped me better understand how glow and lighting is done

@tawny whale That firstly I a great example of good glow, buy my only concern is that with the neceon rifles, the surface is patterned whilst the plasma rifle is more of a texture style

The structure affects where to put the different colors, but the ideas stay the same. The closer you get to the source of the glow the lighter it gets.

If you think of it like a reverse wash it might help. All the places a wash would sink into would instead be lighter, with the color of the glow showing in the "darker" areas where a wash would not be.

@tawny whale Ok that does sounds interesting. What base should one use to create a solid base?

Not really, at least not good ones. I kinda stepped away from WH with the whole GW vs Youtube creator debacle. I have an old WIP one where you can see the outline of white I then feathered out to make it glow-y
