I'm still struggling my way through learning to properly thin my paints, and ive noticed that my paints do not behave on my palette like i see in most people's videos. (My paint when thinned a lot forms little droplets instead of lying as a flat pool)

I'm curious if my choice of wet palette paper is the culprit, or if maybe its a consequence of being on very mineral rich well water.

In any case, i use Kirkland culinary parchment paper from costco.

Are there recommended brands, and should i use distilled water or something?

It’s your paper more than anything. Dedicated wet palette papers have more of a tooth so there’s basically small ridges the paint adheres to and breaks the surface tension. Parchment won’t have that but it’s still a good choice

Mineral rich water might lead to some staining if you’re painting very wet, but it shouldn’t really be an issue I would think

My own also form into droplets - but that's not the end of the world.
