I'm new and looking into painting miniatures. I'm interested in getting some paint-on (as opposed to spray-on rattlecan or airbrush) and was looking at the Vallejo Surface Primer on Amazon, in white black and gray.

Is this what I want? I don't want to accidentally buy something that's meant for Airbrushing.

That's fine. You can use it as a brush-on primer.
one thing: you don't need the surface of the miniatures to be of a uniform color after priming. As long as you have some primer on it, it's fine.

If you get metal models to paint, I do not recommend the Vallejo brand primer-- It doesn't seem to bond to the metal well at all. Other brands of acrylic primer like Stynlrez will work fine as well painted on.
