#Getting metal minis to glue

I'm having difficulties getting my metal models to bond correctly. I've tried filing down the areas to make it more porous, and have tried using a few different types of super glues.

They're warmachine and hordes miniatures, if that matters. I've also left them glued together and make-shift clamped overnight, and it's still fallen apart. Some of the joints are really solid, so I'm not sure what's causing the issue. I've been trying (and failing) to get one of them built for a few months at this point.

I have a lot of success with pure plastic models, and a lot of my googling has left me with no answers. Any tips are appreciated!

What brand of CA Glue are you using? You may want to try washing the parts, to make sure there is no mold release residue causing you issues. You may also need to pin the parts, which is common for metal minis.

I should've mentioned, I have washed them! I've tried just Krazy Glue and Gorilla Super glue. I haven't tried pining models at all, I'll read into that.

I've been using Bob Smith ever since I discovered it. It's been the best bonding glue so far, holds even stronger with a pin

I've never gotten metal to behave without pinning.

I've only ever needed to pin 'big' models. A lot of miniatures with seperate arms and stuff I've managed with just regular cheap superglue. You do need to hold it in place for longer than you may expect. Or if gluing to a base etc. I may prop it up while it sets.

If you sprinkle super glue with baking soda it cures instantly. Be careful tho, coz it can create texture and bumps. The result is also white, not transparent, but some super glues are white, when cured anyway.

Have you tried Epoxy putties like JB Weld SteelStik?

It's like working with clay on a time limit but you can shape and clean it up well before it sets. It can then also be filed after it hardens if needed.

It can be used to fill in any gaps and bond metals together but can also make a surface easier to adhere with super glue in my experience.

Not the solution to every problem but something I always have on hand for metal pieces.
