Subtitles that include fonts that use diacritic glyphs are not supported at this time. It is something we would like to support in the future, but we haven't had time to do this yet.

The only solution at the moment to watch such content would be to encode a copy of the file with the subs burned in.

Thanks. But this feature has been requested for many years. I recommended BigScreen to many friends and users in the community, but they eventually gave up BigScreen because of this. I understand that your dev has different priorities, but this feature might not take them that much time and can win many users back with less effort than other requested features.

It has been almost 7 years since I brought it up to you guys, when are you guys going to implement this small changes, while you are working on the next big VR headset? After all it's a basic feature that ALL the open source video players including HTML5 ones support for more than 10 years. It's PAINFUL to use bigscreen without double-byte character support! And there are literally tens of millions of users in the North America who can benefit from this small implementation, and billions around the world. Deeply appreciated!

Bigscreen has been my favorite vr video player since I got my quest 3, it has the best environment and dynamic lighting compared to other players. But the only feature that Bigscreen lacks is the support of subtitles in other language than english. I think Bigscreen will be my only vr video player if you genius developers can add this feature, or you can make it a premium feature, I will pay a $14.99 for it without any hesitation.
