A toggle to change push to talk to push to mute, where the microphone would always be transmitting except when a button is pressed, which would instead mute you.

I would like this feature. Having to open settings to mute myself when answering a call or eating something is a pain

IMHO they should both be B, and when using the mute/talk button depending on which setting you're on (push to talk or push to mute), an icon would appear, so you know for sure if you're muting or talking. This would probably also be used to check which setting you're on quickly by tapping B and seeing which icon appears.
The push to talk setting can then be removed from the options, as the mic setting that's on the taskbar is now a quick toggle button.

I second this whole heartedly, I always want to mute when I cough and cant get to it in time..
often people are muted and dont realize it too, so some kind of icon to let you know you are mutes would be helpful too

A persistent icon would be annoying, but as well as the icon showing when you push to talk/mute, an icon that appears when you speak if you're muted to remind you you're muted would be good.
