Hey!
(I know you can bind all keys like you wish!)
I‘d like to suggest a tool to costumize the UI for your needs.
I‘m a big RTS fan and love the recent innovations regarding hotkeys and their placement onscreen and on keyboard.
For example, if you click on any unit in StarCraft2 you have the 5x3 grid in which every key has the same position and similar orders.

I think MMOs like WoW and GW let you costumize their UI for healing and raids.

And the best part could be: you can change the ui and the binding native in „grid“ or „classic“ because you have some prepared builds.

Rebinding keys in this game is a nightmare as you have to reonfigure it for each CIV ... so time consuming ...

IMO, the best option is to edit part of the XML file with your preferred XML editor

You can take a look at my link above
I made a few "prepared builds"

And I was also suggesting that the launcher could have an option to replace the original keybindings with other "prepared builds"

Creating another keybinding editor would be too time consuming for the dev this time and with a too small added value for the community

The launcher could have a tick menu with 3 options :

  • regular key bindings
  • WASD key bindings
  • ZQSD key bindings

In case you chose to change for one of those 3 options, the launcher would copy part of the XML to replace key bindings
