#Red Filters on Incompatible Items

This is a low priority QOL UX proposal.

**Request to remove, disable, or change the red filters. **

Items that are incompatible with the civ you’re currently logged-in on have a pinkish-red tint over the whole icon. This is not something I see talked about ever so I could be alone here but it has always bothered me from a UX perspective. What doesn’t make sense to me is that the game is designed not as a single civ with appendages but as a connected experience between multiple civs that all share an inventory space. When we drop loot on one civ we effectively are viewing those items through the lens of all civs. “My Norse could use this Bow, my Greeks still need that advisor, that recipe” etc.

This setting feels like training wheels for the newly initiated player who does not yet understand the concepts of the game. At some point we no longer need the assistance but do not get to experience this part of the game without guardrails.

If this warrants change, I propose to:

  • Remove the red filter entirely.
  • Change the filter from a full overlay to a less obstructive outline.
  • Add an option to disable this feature in the settings.

can actually tell rarities of the items without mousing over making the sell, vault, scrap decision cheaper for items that can't be used on a particular civ that drop on it, or cleaning up the vault
