That’s called path tracing

no? Aside from the lighting, which is shader dependent, the lightning itself is just a model. You could RT/PT the light from it, but again that's shader stuff

I know it’s not a complete lighting model but I’m saying it’s the closest thing you can get that can run that or raytracing

I don't think you understand the question.

Lightning bolt. Not lighting as in lightmapping/rendering the lightmap.

They mean the bolt that travels from a thunder head to the ground because a path of the particles of the atmosphere become ionized and allow the discharge

Now that I’m reading it again that dose make more sense

Yeah the title is weird. Should say lightning bolt

# blazing eagle I Think a more realistic 3d Model of a lightning would look cool https://youtu.b...

ngl this should get added
just a better more detailed version of the vanilla lightning bolt + lightning glow from shaders would make this video a reality
and personally i think storms are kinda lame too so adding this would be a major upgrade

Personally i still think there should be cloud physics as-well (There was a cloud physics post but it got closed).. mainly because i think if they had custom clouds in the physics mod then they would be interactable with elytras. not to mention cloud physics + lightning physics would mean you'd be able to see cool effects like lightning passing through the clouds like a real storm.

then with the addition of liquid physics maybe in the near future the rain could be turned into liquid physic drops instead of the basic vanilla water drops from rain
which would also create puddles that would slowly fade after the storm ends..

My only concern is that i was told cloud physics could be really performance heavy but if haunba just made lightning physics compatible with specific shaders like complementary, kappa, and other popular shaders then that could work too. however it would probably take a lot of work and time to implement so i doubt it

also side note i think you should rename this post to
"Lightning Physics"
but thats just my opinion-

Thunderstorms in vanilla rarely happen because of sleeping resetting the timer afaik

still would be nice..

#

it'd be a huge addition tbh

#

and it would make people enjoy storms a lot more since it would be very appealing to watch

#

atm they are just ran solely by shaders and theres absolutely nothing special about rain thunder or snow

#

so adding any form of physics to the three would be a massive upgrade

along with the already existing wind physics storms will be super realistic and cool with all of these additions 👍
