I fervently believe this is the right spot to post this so here goes on suggestions/ideas/wish list...

Shield patterns. Shields are an offhand and basically made the same way as weapons (it was even demonstrated in Forged in Fire if you watch that and willing to post a link here if that's allowed). Unlike normal armors that require several parts and pieces, shields are just the handle the shield bit itself. So shields of various sizes could be made since you'd just need the handle glyph and then the shield glyph. If this was allowed, you could also have more Blacksmith companion books for them.

Hybrid weapons glyphs. ie: katanas, warsword (two and half) etc.

Last but not least: would love to see armor smithing as opposed to the normal weaponsmithing. However; I would envision armor to be more complicated and thus you'd have various glyphs for the pieces and at the end to combine those pieces together - perphaps through adding those pieces onto a maniquin or something and when you have all the pieces to do some verb action that puts the armor together?

+1 million for both shield forging and more esoteric weapon options (why can't I make a whip? They have vultite whips!)

I just want to be able to forge a cestus, to be honest... though I say that not even knowing if perfect forged tiger-claws get the DF benefit when using UAC. If they don't, then what I'm asking for might require an update to the UCS, so maybe it's a bit much.

Of course, if the UCS were going to be updated anyway, it would be nice if cobblers could also make UAC super shoes... 👀

Love this idea. 100% agree that forging shields seems to make a lot of sense.

  1. Mechanics for it seem to already be built and would function similar to weapons.
  2. Logic is there on how they're made.
  3. Would be an easy AvD adjustment for perfect forged shields (negative for defense), similar to perfect forged weapons (+3 offensive)

Suddenly 3 decades of high end shields come out of the woodwork for sale because of a new shield mechanic that never existed before and everyone wants a perfect forged shield with its +6% block
