Calclone used to be just Calamitas outright, since back then Calamity's progression was intended to weave with preHM and HM without creating a substantial Post-ML section of the game. In that form, Calamitas was technically added in 1.1

so its more like dog was just a mascot because he was there from the beginning and he happened to stick around with a big name, while calamitas got her name to make the mod's name make some sense
