so far ive done mage and summoner, obviously summoner was busted for a bit and got nerfed but they were easily the best, mage has much much much better damage than ranger in hardmode and also has insane amounts of life steal so they basically cant die, melee just seems good overall from what ive seen

I know I am very late to the party, but I would argue that ranger is strongest in pre-hardmode, where it has a ton of good options. Its definitely the worst beginning of hardmode (I was literally getting 200dps against cryogen, no joke), but I was still able to beat leviathan on my first try with the holofibre immolator (like 800dps) so its definitely not impossible. It really struggles from plantera-cultist, but new gear like the arc nova diffuser really help fill in those gaps. Post ML it has the superradiant slaughterer, but it does struggle a little bit for DoG (unless the reworked Halley's inferno changes that). Yharon gives the flamethrower, which is incredible for mechs (40-80k dps), and while there isn't a super standout option for SCal, post SCal gives the soma prime, which is also incredible
the recent additions of things like the reworked daawnlight and even the storm bow from storm weaver or the reworked telluric glare also really help to close a lot of major holes for the class
I used to put it as the worst or second worst class and now I would say its like 3rd at the lowest (summoner on top, maybe melee in second just because its so hard to die with melee)
I think if they rework/buff all of the dozens of absolutely useless bows in hardmore (especially pre-mechs) the class will be in a really good spot

More ammo types, more ammo conversions, more crit effects, more buffs to being accurate, more charge weapons, more weapons like the starmada which are mechanically interesting, more unique mechanics like the ontological despoiler which require switching and stuff
More things that arenโt just the phantasm or the minishark for the one billionth time
Like what if certain onyx blaster upgrades made the bullets home in and strike multiple times if an enemy is hit by the onyx shard. It encourages you to get closer for way higher dps, but still allows for targeting
Stuff like that

like honestly easily the class with the most untapped potential is summoner
its no other class' fault though really
its just how theyre fundamentally designed
they can never be too much different from eachother

yea it felt good pre-hardmode for sure, hardmode basically just sucked start to finish and so far post moonlord has been good, but im about to fight DoG now so ill see how it goes from here on

A lot of the arsenal weapons make hardmode a lot more fun

id still put mage over it tbh, could change right at the end and in all fairness mage mostly sucks in pre-hardmode (its really strong for wall of flesh)
Leviatitan did like 4k dps to destroyer without reforged accessories or on-tier armor

There are 4 of each "type" of reforges, so getting the ones that aren't a single stat is expected
for anyone else w this issue abyss should start filling up on its own, but using the "settle" command in console also helps

they're referring to the cheat sheet copy/paste feature
enable cheat sheet, open the paintbrush tool, select all of layer 2 from a new worlds abyss, enter your original world (still with cheat sheet on!) and then use the paste function to paste over your layer 2
Sometimes pasting water will giga lag, so you could need to drain it first, but hopefully just doing one layer wouldn't be bad
But yeah, I've done that to ship of Theseus my abyss when background walls were changed in the past

Reimplemented a modified version of Feral Bite inflicting random debuffs on the player:
- Now consistently applies one debuff every 10 seconds instead of timing being entirely random.
- Can inflict Weak, Darkness, Bleeding, and Broken Armor for 1.5-3.5 seconds.

It's now a very minor nuisance instead of being randomly extremely frustrating

the "new ai" is just vanilla but the numbers are bigger, so the tweak needed is just removing the change
