I. genuinely like to hear you out but I too am against nonconsumable potions. calamity already makes the potions so much more accessible than vanilla with blood orbs and npc shops and if it's a one and done thing like an accessory it kinda defeats the purpose of the potions in the first place. my own take is to make potions less of a necessity for the mod's balance and more boosts if you're having a hard time but I think that ship has way past sailed

Potions to certain degree is a reward for effort, for lower difficulties it is a get out of jail card when you are stucked on a boss, for higher difficulty your reward is to fight bosses at equal footing with the increased power level
Removing potions will make the mod even more of a boss rush than before, as you just "oh I beat this boss, lets start the next one with 0 preparation because there is none"

A lot of gear are tier based, not all bosses unlock grinding gear, bosses also drop their own weapon that are viable for the tier
if you want to give exploration more of a focus what if crafting recipes for gear require more world drops

I have a suggestion for the dungeon, some times you have to farm for an accessory/weapon post plantera in the dungeon but said enemy only spawn if the walls for example are bricks but in your dungeon only a small portion of it is brick wall, that can make farming for that accessory/weapon frustrating and more time consuming than it should be, so my idea is make the generation of the dungeon better split the three types of walls or make the wizard npc sell them like he does with the weapons

true melees to certain degree are deliberate for balance reason
i mean, you are sacrificing your ranged ability in order for a small damage boost so being unable to aim it feels like it cancels out the buff entirely

true melee tend to deal like nearly 3-5x more damage than ranged options (depend on weapon of course) so they are not exactly small

tbh underworld is dangerous, but not dangerous enough currently, many of them are pretty much cheesable behind walls
and bone serpent get nuked by everything that has piercing as usual, while imps stop firing if you hit it once
